What is the Brussel's Eco-dynamic label?

The Eco-dynamic label is official recognition of good environmental management practices by public and private enterprises. It rewards their environmental dynamism and their progress in waste management, energy consumption and the rational use of raw materials. It also encourages the introduction of an environmental management system, with a view to the Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) or ISO 14001. The label is a 3 stars label, depending on the level of environmental performance within the organisation.

Who’s running the label ?

The Brussels Institute for Management of the Environment, or IBGE, is the environment and energy Administration of the Brussels Capital Region. IBGE acts, from the regulatory standpoint, as a research, planning, advisory and information body, as well as an issuer of permits, and a surveillance and control agency. IBGE, in cooperation with other administrations and trade associations, created the voluntary Eco-dynamic company label.

Who can be a candidate for the label?

Any company, whether private, public or semi-public, administration or association, from any sector of activity, for example industry, services, distribution, etc. can obtain the Eco-dynamic label, on the condition that it has a site in the Brussels-Capital Region.
There are currently more than 90 organisations (small, medium and large companies, local authorities NGOs, etc) in Brussels which are labelled with either 1, 2 or 3 stars. To view the complete list of labelled organisations click here.

Recognition with EMAS

A Brussels based EMAS registered organisation gets automatically the 3 stars of the Eco-dynamic label when asking for it. Today, 12 organisations are EMAS registered in the Brussel's Region, and most of them have also been proudly awarded with the 3 stars of the Eco-dynamic label.
